Lake City, Colorado

Overview:

Located in the San Juan Mountains, Lake City is the only incorporated municipality in Hinsdale County. Lake City is named after Lake San Cristobal, the second largest natural lake in the state of Colorado. This area served as a supply center for miners due to the rich mineral deposits of the Colorado Mineral belt.

Lake City is an outdoor enthusiasts dream! During the winter months enjoy snowshoeing, snowmobiling, ice fishing or skiing. In the summer, there are lakes and streams that have a host of great fishing adventures. For an extreme hike, scale Uncompahgre Peak, one of Colorado's fourteeners. There are also many scenic byways if you prefer to take in the sites by car.
